Internet Upgrade Coming Wednesday Night

On Wednesday, December 21, starting at 11:00 PM and lasting until Thursday morning at 4:00 AM, we will be performing an upgrade to the core of the network which provides internet service to all of our internet customers. This is a big project that we have been planning for months. We apologize for any problems that this outage causes our customers, but it is necessary to make our network more resilient and dependable in the face of rapidly growing data traffic. This upgrade will also allow us to keep adding the bandwidth and speed that we all love. We have planned the process to make the network outages as short as possible, but you will see some internet blinks and some slowness while we are doing the swap.

In September alone, EPB’s Infotricity rate caused a reshaping of Glasgow’s energy usage during the peak day that saved the community over $40,000, and stayed in our customers' pockets instead of going to pay TVA.

Once in a Lifetime Opportunity is Ending

Glasgow was smiled upon when we were given money to implement the Smart Energy Technology Project. This project is buying technology for 330 Glasgow homes and businesses. Smart thermostats, heat pump water heaters, and battery systems are being installed free to the home/business owners because the grant money is to be used to install and study the various hardware and how Glasgow customers interact with it.

But all good things eventually come to an end. We are now down to less than 45 thermostats and water heaters available for installation in the homes/businesses for lucky Glasgow EPB customers. If you are a Glasgow EPB electric customer, currently have an electric water heater and HVAC system, and want to cash in this winning ticket you need to contact Shelia Hogue now by calling 270-659-3508 or e-mailing shogue@glasgow-ky.com. We need to hear from you immediately, as the project is ending and our community may never be granted this level of funding again.

Does it matter if you miss this opportunity? Yes. These pieces of hardware have already proven to help save money on electric bills every month, without noticeable impact on anyone’s physical comfort. Missing this opportunity means turning your back on an opportunity that requires no money from you, yet pays you a dividend every month for the coming years, in the form of lower electric bills.

If you are putting off calling us, you should stop and do it. If you have been offered a place in the project but have just not found the time to simply return your signed contract, you are making a potentially expensive mistake. I promise you will regret it if you miss this rare opportunity to get something really cool for free!

We are Still Looking for Sites for Free Technology!

We are still looking for several customers with homes or businesses, who would like for us to install a  free heat pump water heater, modern thermostats, and maybe even a state of the are battery system at no charge!  That is right, we want to improve your home or business for fee.
If you own your home/business and get your electricity from Glasgow EPB and have an existing electric hot water heater, a central HVAC system and have internet service, you might qualify for getting this technology installed without any cost to you. The new items are designed to work in concert with signals from Glasgow EPB to reduce your coincident peak demand during the peak hour of each month. To summarize, you can get these items installed at no cost, and you get to enjoy the savings that they may offer as reductions to your monthly power bill.

This is a rare situation where a funding source wants to spend money on Glasgow homes and businesses. If you think this applies to you, or if  you have friends or family that it might apply to, please go tohttp://bit.ly/SETProject and fill out the brief survey. We will get back to you to determine your eligibility quickly!

Act Now -- Get Free Stuff!

Glasgow is a special place. In fact, in Glasgow it is presently possible to get something for nothing. That’s right, it isn’t a free lunch, but due to Glasgow EPB’s good fortune in attracting grant funding, 330 homes/small businesses will get a free WiFi enabled programmable thermostat, or a free WiFi enabled heat pump water heater, or maybe even an extremely high tech battery system.

This is a rare and fleeting opportunity! If you think you may qualify please go to http://bit.ly/SETProject and fill out the brief survey. We will get back to you to determine your eligibility quickly!

Channel Changes Coming February 1

At long last, our conversion of all analog cable channels to digital transmission is nearly complete. At the first of January we converted the remaining analog channels and we continue to help folks adapt to the change and we continue the process of delivering and installing the DTA boxes necessary to keep older analog televisions working.

As February 1 comes around, we have another small change that will impact all cable customers. In our negotiation process with WNKY and WBKO, they have asserted their rights to be the only source for ABC, NBC, and CBS programming in Barren County. Our agreement with WNKY also stipulates that their CBS programming will be viewed on channels 10 and 515, and that their NBC programming be on our channels 7 and 514.

In order to comply with their wishes, our WTVF programming will move to channels 23 and HD 558 on February 1. Our WSMV programming will move to channels 16 and HD 559 on the same date. Network programming on WTVF, WSMV, and WHAS will be switched such that it all comes from the Bowling Green stations mentioned above.

This change will not require you to reprogram your televisions again. The only hassle will be finding your favorite local newscasts from WTVF and WSMV. You will have to learn to find them on the channels listed above. We are sorry for this inconvenience, but the broadcasters have a very strong hand in these matters and we are complying in the hope of saving our customers from even higher licensing fees in the future.
